A Message from the Manager
It’s officially spring! And this spring brings many new changes.. As a longtime employee, a member, and a dedicated supporter of the co-op, I feel honored to have the opportunity to lead the team. I also fell blessed to have such a loyal, hard working staff.
One of my goals as the new GM is to make sure that all of our baristas are well trained and producing quality drinks from our cafe. We’ve now had two training sessions from Thanksgiving Coffee to help ensure this goal is met.
Along with working on having more consistency with our cafe drinks, we’re also focusing on having more healthy, vegetarian options available in our prepared food section. as a dedicated vegan and environmentalist, I believe its small, community-based markets like us that need to help lead the way and provide meal options that are not only better for our bodies, but also for our planet. I always try to be mindful of where our products come from, and buy from as many local produce vendors as possible, while still offering competitive prices.
Some new products I’m especially excited about include Explore Cuisine no boil Green Lentil Lasagna, loaded with a whopping 11 grams of plant-based protein! Another is the Farmhouse Culture’ Kraut chips. Yes, you heard right! Chips made from probiotic-rich sauerkraut! Getting your daily dose of gut healthy cultures has never been easier—or tastier! And, while we’re on the subject, the other new product I’m excited to share is also loaded with gut-healthy goodness! It’s a high-alcohol kombucha full of vitamins, minerals, and (you guessed it) probiotics! These have been flying off the shelf, so pick one up while you can!
Finally, I want to give a quick shout out to this months showcase artist Wesley Luster. He describes himself as “a multi-racial artist whose creative work—much like his ethnic background—is extremely varied in shape, scope, nature, taste, form and function. Come check out his rotating gallery, up until the end of April.
